A+rack

So.. I have been making old cassette tapes into wallets for a while now.
Lacking motivation, I have never gotten around to it.
I finally set up a little sewing area with all of y stuff organized.. and even a semi big table to work on.
Last night/all today I have thought about how I am finally going to start making these cassette wallets. Well, right after I got home from work and ate dinner I went into my sewing room and, just before i began to craft, I went on google reader to see if any of the craft blogs I'm subscribed to had new tutorials.

I just so happened to find this!

I love that they have this.. but I think/am hoping mine will be a little more advanced... and I really dont want the excess fabric on the top...

Pictures of my creations soon to follow!

oh goody! i love hoodies!

I found a sick shop on Etsy today. I think 20twenty is my soulmate. A small boutique based in Seattle, which sells cute as hell vintage and localy designed clothing and goods.
They sell amazing screen printed hoodies. What more can a girl ask for than a bicycle printed tee, or a humming bird printed tee.

It's very hot in Miami. Everyone still runs their AC 24/7 and I still have to wear bare minimum clothing sometimes, while other parts of the Nation are enjoying camp fires and scarves, pea coats, and mittens!
But this  continuouse heat wave hasn't strayed me away from really wanting to make a deep hooded dress.

I have seen this dress floating around. I would rather make a more tailored hooded dress... but this one is super cute as well. I don't like the back tail piece, but its still rockin. Here is the tutorial how to make your very own hoodie dress from a Men's sweatshirt!

Mr. Peacock

This is my friend, Mr. Peacock. He has been hanging out in my yard/around my neighborhood for quite a while now. Something about peacocks hanging around makes things seem more beautiful and exotic.

It's that season again where his tail feathers are starting to sprout out from under the dull grey forest of year round plumage. Making me sit at the edge of my seat in anticipation of finding tons of gorgeous tail feathers in my yard!

I have already collected quite a few feathers from him, and other males.
Here is my collection so far....

I plan on making them into feather headbands!
I just need to find some time!

Recycling Denim

My dad gave me a pencil yesterday. I don't use pencils much, and when I do I use mechanical pencils for patternmaking.
Well, this pencil is not a normal pencil. It's made from recycled denim. I LOVE THIS! and it really got me thinking...
The average American purchases 70 pounds of fabric per year, with 85 % ending up in landfills (according to the Institute for Local-Reliance) ... and imagine how much of that is denim; it being a basic staple fashion item of  Americans' every day wardrobe.
Also, imagine how many mechanical pencils are just thrown out. Not recycled, or reused, just thrown in the trash when it runs out of refillable lead.

Everyone should start using recycled pencils! Especially cute ones like this

I love the little pocket on the end of it with the top stitching!
